women's work circles

Right now I'm organizing women's work circles.
All you need are a few willing women and times you can meet regularly. Each small group meets as many times as there are women in the group, and then decides if they want to do another round, add more people, or make other changes. Our first group cleaned houses, weeded gardens, planted apple trees, and painted - and had a great time talking and singing while we worked. After the work session, the host served lunch. So much got done and we enjoyed it so much that we're doing it again.
You don't have to use your week for house or garden work, though I certainly plan to when its my turn to have people here. There are plenty of ways to use many hands. You could cook an incredible meal, do each other's mending, or do a project for someone else or for an organization that you choose to donate your time to.
To encourage the whole idea, I'm holding a meeting a couple weeks from now on a Sunday afternoon open to anyone interested in being part of a women's work circle.
Those of us who can come from the current or original group will share our experiences, and everyone else can figure out when and how they want to do their own circles, and who wants to be in them. The big meeting allows new people to connect and figures out what would work best for them. Maybe Saturdays or five people once a month would work better for some people; there are endless possibilities.
If you're inspired to set up your own group (or groups!), write to me and we can share ups and downs.

Help

My women's work circle met here today and it was absolutely amazing! Even though only 4 of the 6 members came, we all worked three hours in the garden. The amount of work we got done is astounding. Imagine if all six of us could have come! And we sang while we weeded and trimmed - what a difference we made! My garden is so happy!
Afterwards we ate salad and omelets and bread together, and now I'm feeling exhilarated instead of exhausted.
We decided that each member of the group would be responsible for showing up for one meeting less than the total number of women in the group, so for our group, that means showing up 5 out of the six total weeks. It's a more reasonable expectation than requiring everyone to show up for all 6 of the 6 weeks. The two women who couldn't come today had legitimate reasons; that's the way life works.
We realized that a work group would even work with three members; it would meet three times.
I am so excited about the whole concept - I hope the idea is spreading.
Next Friday we're gardening again, and the following week we're cleaning out a garage. After that I don't know what plans peope have but whatever it is, I'm happy to do it. The whole of working together is so much more than the parts!
